Banda Destruida
Banda Destruida started in 2013, when Laiseca and Zamorano decided to continue playing as a duo after the end of Losmodestos trio. In the following years they came up with 12 songs . During this period, ideas evolved until they became deformed and decomposed, mutating from one rehearsal to another, becoming the scars that life left on the band.
Then, a slow process of recording began in stages, conditioned by the intention of discovering things along the way. One of those things was the need to bring in a bassist able to design ad-hok bass lines and record over of what was already recorded. This is how Tapia joined the band.
After the chilean social outbreak (October 18, 2019), there was additional inspiration to add things to the mix.
The album contains a version of Lonquén, an emblematic song from Sol y Lluvia, a chilean folk band born in the late 70’s. They were part of La Nueva Canción Chilena, a massive movement of folkloric renewal, where the tradition was nourished by musical innovations. After the 1973 military coup, this movement continued to develop abroad due to the exile of many of its interpreters.
Banda Destruida has actively participated in the independent music scene of Santiago. They were in charge of organizing the South American tour of the Austrian band Porn to Hula in 2018, work they had already done before with Losmodestos for the tour of the also Austrians Valina in 2012, a band that has recorded albums with the reputed Steve Albini, founder, owner and chief engineer of Electrical Audio, the famous recording studio located in Chicago.
The band’s first album was well received by local independent media and one of it songs was considered on the grid for “The Watt from Pedro Show”, a music radio show and podcast founded and hosted by Mike Watt, co-founder and bassist of Minutemen among other projects and who also played at The Stooges.
In 2021 Banda Destruida was invited by BeerCity Skateboards & Records to join the label. Here we are now!, extremely grateful, honored and proud for the possibility to be the first latin band on the label, beyond the idiomatic barrier.

El proyecto comenzó en el año 2013, cuando Laiseca y Zamorano decidieron seguir tocando como dúo tras el final del trío Losmodestos. En los años siguientes escribieron y compusieron las 12 canciones incluidas en este material. Durante este período las ideas fueron evolucionando hasta deformarse y descomponerse, mutando de un ensayo a otro, transformándose en las cicatrices que la vida dejó en la banda.
Luego, se inició un lento proceso de grabación por etapas, condicionado por la intención de ir descubriendo cosas en el camino. Una de esas cosas fue la necesidad de sumar un bajista que diseñara líneas de bajo ad-hok y grabara encima de lo que ya estaba registrado. Así es como Tapia se sumó al proyecto.
Después estallido social chileno (18 de octubre de 2019), hubo inspiración adicional para sumar arreglos a la mezcla.
El álbum contiene una versión de “Lonquén”, canción emblemática de Sol y Lluvia; banda folklórica chilena nacida a finales de los años 70. Ellos formaron parte de La Nueva Canción Chilena, un masivo movimiento de renovación folclórica, donde la tradición se nutrió de innovaciones musicales. Tras el golpe militar de 1973, este movimiento siguió desarrollándose en el extranjero debido al exilio de muchxs de sus intérpretes.
Banda Destruida ha participado activamente en la escena musical independiente de Santiago. Fueron los encargados de organizar la gira sudamericana de la banda austríaca Porn to Hula en 2018, trabajo que ya habían realizado antes con Losmodestos para la gira de los también austríacos Valina en 2012, banda que grabó discos con el reputado Steve Albini, fundador, propietario e ingeniero jefe de Electrical Audio, el famoso estudio de grabación ubicado en Chicago.
El primer álbum de la banda fue bien recibido por los medios independientes locales y una de sus canciones fue considerada en la grilla de “The Watt from Pedro Show”, programa de radio musical y podcast fundado y conducido por Mike Watt, co-fundador y bajista de Minutemen entre otros proyectos y quien también tocó en The Stooges.
En el año 2021, BeerCity Skateboards & Records invitó a Banda Destruida a unirse al catálogo del sello. Y aquí estamos ahora!, extremadamente agradecidos, honrados y orgullosos por la posibilidad de ser la primera banda latina en el sello, más allá de la barrera idiomática.
Las canciones para un segundo álbum ya existen y solo necesitan un poco más de trabajo antes de que se conviertan en demos oficiales, lo que debería estar listo en algún momento del 2022.
