Fastplants are a Chicago area skatepunk band.The band started in 2013 and after a couple lineup changes and two self-released e.p.’s and steady gigging around the Midwest, has solidified with the addition of Abe (guitar) and Joel (bass) to original members Matt (guitar) and Marc (drums). This lineup gigged and toured heavily in 2016 and recorded a split l.p. with Scottish skatepunk band Daniel Wax Off, that came out in the spring of 2017.
A full length ‘Spread the Stoke’ was recorded and released for the summer of 2017. In support of the new full length the band toured the western U.S. in July and played the Midwest, South, and Eastern U.S. throughout 2017.
2018 has Fastplants playing multiple dates through spring including a long weekend out to NY and back. A 3 day/city Shred , Rock and Camp tour with fellow Chicago band Shots Fired. Were they skate the park in the city all day and then play a show at night followed by camping out. As well as many other shows and tours for 2018.
2019 Fastplants toured with label mates D.R.I. as well as playing several other shows throughout the US.
2020 would see the world go on lock down due the pandemic.Fastplants still practiced when they could and continued to work on new songs.
2021 Dan steps up to bass duties and as soon as this pandemic is over Fastplants will start playing shows again and be going out on a US tour.
Fastplants also ‘Spread the Stoke’ of skateboarding by actively promoting it everywhere they go as well as doing a yearly skate/music festival in their home town of Waukegan , IL called Shred Fest! For one day a section of the street in downtown Waukegan is blocked off and a stage is brought in for bands to play as well as several obstacles to skate and some light hear ted contests to. There is food being sold as well as some booths with people selling skateboards and other cool stuff. All are welcome to come and partake. Its 100% free to skate and watch the bands or just hang out.
Fastplants have no plans on slowing down and looks forward to every show, big and small.
